The BIG Picture!

A Techtite Weekly Feature

[...back, because you demanded it! -Ed.]

The "Big Picture" for the First Week of August, 2004 is:

"The Secret Room"

(Doom 3, 2004, 1024x768 image)

Doom 3 has probably already been played, in single-player form, by one and all by now. So allow me to conclude "Doom 3 Month" of The Big Picture, by showing a shot you may not have seen; the secret room!

This room is in fact just shy of the final Boss area. Save early and save often, and you may have a save game just shy of when you meet the final Boss; just prior to turning right, in a labyrinth of dungeon-like passageways. Turning left instead, reveals a small hallway with a barely visable brick with the "Id" logo embossed on its front. "Using" this brick reveals the nearby secret room.

What is in this room? I won't say. All I'll say is that it is the typical secret room of many a cool game. That is: it is of no consequence whether you find this room or not, because it contains not one single power-up or other "You could have told me about this before I finished the game!" items. Instead; it's sort of a thank-you from the game's design team, so to speak. That's all I'll say about it. See you next month, for a new batch of Big Pictures, as we move on to the next Big Game. See you then.
