Techtite.com'sThe BIG Picture!A Techtite Weekly Feature
The "Big Picture" for the First Week of February, 2004 is: "Six of Nine" (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, 2003, 1280 x 960 image) click picture for the full-size (BIG) photo! Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was, irrefutably, the RPG of the Year for 2003. Shown here is your character in the game (center), along with six of the nine potential teammates you meet in the game, as seen in an in-game cinematic. They include, from left to right: the elderly Jedi Jolee, the blue-skinned teenage Twi'lek named Mission, the Republic fly ace Carth, "you" (a character whose appearance and name is entirely alterable), the wookie Zaalbaar, the rogue Canderous, and the headstrong Jedi padawan, Bastila. Spoilers notwithstanding, I felt it worth mentioning that this is a photo taken from near the end of the game, if you choose the "Jedi path" (Not the Sith path). It must be noted that this was worth mentioning because for one thing; choosing the Sith path means many of these fine folk turn on you, and therefore must be defeated; one of the many elements that IMO, makes the Sith path of the game suck. Secondly; near the end of the game, there is a story arc where Bastila may die. This picture is meant for fans of Bastila to know that, unlike other poorly designed storylines in games (Final Fantasy VII, anyone...?), Bastila does not have to die; it just takes a lot of skill on your character's part to save her. Oh, and no, I didn't crop out your three other companions, Juhani, and the two droids. The cinematic shows them in an earlier shot. I'm not sure why, but my guess is that 1) two of them are optional characters, dependant on story arcs you don't even have to choose, and 2) the smallest droid is only waist-high and could not be in this photo, anyway. Of the characters possible to be shown in this photo, however, it's a cool game shot, don't you think?
