As I type this, Wall-e has just made over 60 million during its first weekend at the box office. It's clear that robot movies are still popular, though after decades of robots in sci-fi, which ones were the best?

Rules...? The only rule to this list was seemingly simple: every character had to be a robot. This sounds obvious though to give you an idea: The Six Million Dollar Man was not a robot. Nor was "HAL 9000," from 2001: A Space Odyssey, since HAL was a computer, not a robot. On the other hand; purists might be a bit upset that some of the following "robots" are technically androids, while some were (allegedly) cyborgs, and so on. Let's just put it this way: "Top Ten Best Sci-Fi Robots" sounded much cooler than "Top Ten Artificial Life Forms Made of Some Sort of Metal"...!

Yes, there are dozens of robots who earned fans through the years, and this is a top ten list. So this list is bound to make some people very happy, and others upset. As always; that's what makes it a good list. So: let's get started!
