Top 13 WORST Series Finales, EVER!
<<<(back
to title page)
The List begins with:
Life On Mars:
"Life is a Rock"
(ABC, Season 1, Episode 17, first
aired April 1, 2009)
If
I only BARELY include Life on
Mars on this list, it’s not because its finale sucked the
"least." It’s just that so few people cared if this
one-season-wonder ended "well." Which...it didn’t.
Here is a short summary of the plot, as it appeared here in the U.S.
(this was originally a hit BBC series). This is the story of Sam Tyler, a
NYC detective in 2008, who gets hit by a
speeding car. He
wakes up in 1973. He's still a detective, at the same precinct, though
the way crimes are solved and the whole pop culture scene has totally
changed. For 16 episodes, everyone wonders if he went back in
time, or if this is "heaven"/purgatory for the guy, or if he's in a
coma. Would you believe...none of the above are true?
Here's the finale's epilogue for you: Sam was never in 1973. He was
never in 2008, either. Heck; Sam was never a detective! He is
an astronaut, in the year 2035...on his way to Mars! Yeah, heh-heh, see:
the computer was supposed to give him a happy dream while asleep for the
trip to Mars, though the computer had a little glitch and that's why his
2008 dream was suddenly a 1973 dream. Um...okayyyyy.
We then see all his buddies from the 1973 "precinct" are on the on the
same Mars mission, including the
Captain of his precinct, who’s really…dad? They then step out onto Mars, with one
last (and very confusing) visual gag, of Sam stepping onto Mars while
wearing 1970’s shoes. What does this mean? Is this a dream, within a dream, within a dream? Nobody can say. All
that's certain is: this series deserved to be cancelled.
On to #12: Yes,
it sucked. Accept it. Deal with it. Breathe!
