The Many Easter Eggs of Twinsen's Odyssey

(this is the actual list I wrote, in 1997!)

[What follows is a classic "article" by Techtite, circa 1997, when he first played the fantastic game sequel, Twinsen's Odyssey. It lists numerous amusing alternate routes & surprises built into the game; all 37 of them!]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

(I've tried to keep these in order of the story, as much as possible...)
These might not be "easter eggs" per se, though it's still an amusing
have-you-ever-tried-this list, not unlike the lists hint books used to offer, in the classic days of adventure gaming!.

So, have you ever tried...

---doing various other things when walking together with Zoe?

---Using the radios at Twinsen's and Baldino's house to talk to Baldino/Zoe? (works only at key stages of the game)

---before going to Zeelich for the first time, using the jukebox in the cafe on Citadel Island and watch some of the customers start to dance?

---Entering the locked door in the Citadel Island sewers?...the key is behind the cardboard box nearby.

---healing Joe the elf, accidentally turned into a clam (!), outside of Wizard School?

---after healing your dinofly, returning to your house from Desert Isle to see Zoe working on the nursery?

---going into the women's steam room in the Desert Island Hacienda, making the Grobo leave his post so you can get to the ladder?

---looking through the telescope above the hacienda on desert island, told your dragonfly to take you to the island you see, and enter the cave there?(need protopack) ( THIS ISLAND HIDES A "PROTECTIVE SPELL!" *VERY* *RECOMMENDED*! )

---Stopping at the start line on the racetrack, and took the racecar's challenge to "follow" him? (need car)

---In jail, searching the empty cell next to the dissident?

---In the Otringal Control tower, pulling the lever to the right of the token?

---after crashlanding the spaceship, looking at it with the Action command?

---checking the school for the children and talked to the teacher? (this movie sequence I never saw until the THIRD time I played the game!)

---After weather wizard is gone, looking at the lamp on the table to see the "evil spirit" he warned you about?

---Using the lightning ring in a battle? (defeat even the assassin, immediately!)

---Keeping the lightning bridge activated after crossing it, then turn it off once you have the itinerary token, THEN turn it on when the guard tries to cross it?

---searching the kennels on Otringal?

---Reading all the papers on Otringal at various times?

---At the Twinsun Souvenier Shop on Otringal, buying and using the memory viewer?

---Winning the key to the Super Jackpot Room in the Otringal Casino?

---Entering the Hotel Imperial from the small window in the back, not the lobby?

---At that hotel, observing the old lady and her "bad" dog sit on the couch?

---Talking to the manicure girl before the dissident leader at Hotel Imperial?

---After talking to the dissident in the Hotel, looking in the room next door?

---Looking at the plans on the table of the four dissidents?

---On the Isle of the Francos, using a meca-penguin near the meca-owl?

---In the Wannie mine, using the crane to get to the life box nearby?

---On Wannie Island, kissing the frog in the pond?

---At the Mosquibee Island, waiting to answer the Queen and see her helpers (fanning the queen) start to get tired...

---On Mosquibee Island, trying to talk to the spider?

---after the mosquibee's island is completed, going near the beach on Wannie island, and healing the Wannie with the horn?

---On your way to Island CX, go through the left door, not right, and use the platform elevator to the passage "underwater"?

---visiting the dissident shop again after defeating the emperor?

---after raising the Monk statue, talking to the people near the docks?

---seeing the "final" unhappy ending cutscene if you lose all lives anytime after the generator is activated?

---seeing the finale of the game? (some apparently have had trouble seeing it, with it being "activated" only if you practically walk Twinsen into the lava pit itself, near the lamp/globe)

---noticing that the arrangement of characters during credits is always different? (once I noticed two of the same character)

...That's about all the ones I saw, that people might not have seen (not necessary for completing the game). Any others...? [if so, please send them in to Techtite's Letters page!]
