About These Letters:: All letters will be responded to, either online here, via e-mail, or both. It doesn't matter whether you fill in the handy-dandy boxes on the offered form, or send a personal e-mail. However, in my experience, people are either more fond of one or the other method, so both letters options are offered here. Why no "snail mail" address offered? Because while junk e-mail is easy enough to delete, junk mail itself is a pain. It's a shame that I need to refrain from any publicly posted snail-mail address at risk of being put on endless mailing lists for unsolicited mail, though that's usually what happens. Sorry. ----------------- Feel free to contribute. As always, review submissions are accepted! ------------------ |

Here's the top of the e-mailbag for: Summer, 2004
Ditch the aqua...? Great site. I haven't sifted thru all of it yet; I just merely scratched the surface. But, please, if you do nothing else: Use colors that are easy on the eyes. That aqua has got to go! A favorite site of mine (http://maddox.xmission.com/) uses 22 point fonts on a black background. Why black? As he states in the FAQ, the default white background so prevalent on the 'Net is like staring into a light bulb. Makes sense. As for the font size, I read your statement and I know why your font size is smaller. Anyway, please use another color.
To the "newcomer" after this letter's posting: This is a letter in regards to how the site looked pre-summer 2004, when everything had an aqua background. Why aqua? Well, at the time of this web site's registration online (1999), iMacs were all the rage, as well as their (initial) attempt to make the computer world less "beige." The initial idea of this site was to be less, well..."white". The original plan was for each department to have a different color: DVD, movies, games, etc. Yeah; this idea quickly turned sour, but for whatever reason, Game-related pages kept the "aqua" treatment. It was this site's calling card of sorts; it's unique touch. I agree about the standard white background online. I don't like pitch black pages, though. For whatever reason reversing the situation does something to my eyes, in reverse, if you understand my meaning. Anyway; we've decided on a happy medium: a less blinding gray. Why not? Between all black and white are several shades of gray, after all. How does the site look now? Anyone care to tell us? Let us know.
What the Heck is a "Google Whack"...? you have been google whacked... "survivor d' oh"
I had to research this topic (ironically, on Google); seems that a Google Whack consists of two real words that only return 1 item in the search results. In this case, my review for Dinotopia includes the lines, "ABC has given the green light to make this [mini-series] into a real series come fall...opposite Friends and Survivor. D' oh!" Mind you; I put a space between the d'oh, so the search wouldn't get two more hits on this page. I'd hate to ruin a good google whack.
Dear Techtite: "Nothing." Sincerely, Noper. Nothing much really.
Nifty.
Shrek 2 PC's Hardest Puzzle...?. Friends How can i win Puss-in-boots' in that battle inside the fence? Please!!!!!!!!
This being a game tip question, I quickly e-mailed you the solution, so you'd get it right away. However, just for the record here (and in case a Spam filter eliminated the e-mail sent from a web site!): To defeat Puss-in-Boots in the PC version of Shrek 2, you must look for both when he's jumping at you, and when he's jumping to another stump to attack. When he's jumping at you, dodge left or right. When he runs to another stump is when he's vulnerable; stomp the ground close to where he is, and he'll be knocked right out of his boots, and take damage. It has to be right when he's on solid ground, though, so it may take some tries, since he speeds up the pace later in the fight. Of course, this is presuming you're playing the PC version, which as of this letter's receipt, is the only version we reviewed. To defeat Puss-in-Boots in the video game version (all platforms), is more of a button exercise. Not unlike a dance game you must click the appropriate buttons as they slowly move within the (><) arrows. This is actually a pain if you ask me; the worst part of the video game version. A full review of said game --which fortunately is much better elsewhere, and far different from the PC version!-- will be posted soon.
