My latest Two Bits for the week ending:

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Some intriguing news this week...and here, as always, are my "2 bits" about them all:

G4TV's Staff Cuts.

I love everything G4 related, especially Attack of the Show and X-play, though to be candid after that controversial "best of 2008" episode, maybe a few staff cuts are in order for the latter. Anyway; word is that staffs are being cut for both shows, and as long as that doesn't include the two host format, I'm cool with that. They could also do without one or more of those skits they always have, which aren't as funny as the banter between the hosts, anyway.

What I'm Playing...

I just played Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection and unlocked almost every PS3 Trophy. I also finished F.E.A.R. 2 near the middle of the week, and saw an ending which isn't as cryptic as I heard elsewhere, though I wouldn't say it was much of a "closure" to the story, either. We're not talking Halo 2 here, though I'd say the ending might be slightly too open for some gamers. At the very least, as "creepy" thriller game go, this ending was definitely memorable and pretty darned unforgettable. Reviews of both games should be up by the time you read this.

Spoiler Alert Version 4.

Suffice to say all the remaining news this week happened on 24, Lost, Galactica, and the like, and that presumes you saw the shows already. If you didn't...spoilers abound after this point. Okay? Well, you were warned...

24's Latest Hour: The "Mole" Revealed, and much more

So the latest 24 hour pulls a Scooby-Doo and makes the "mole" within the FBI...the most obvious one. No it's not Janeane Garafalo, or that blonde girl from that old drama series Once & Again whose name always escapes me. It's the mousy jerk we suspected five seconds after meeting the guy in the very first episode of the season. I guess we were all right. Yippee.

Elsewhere the season looks promising. LOVED the cameos this episode, namely the way they shoehorned "Agent Pierce" and Chloe's husband Morris, as well as a cute first look at their baby together (was that, by any chance, Mary Lynn Rajsjub's real-life child in a cameo?). The chemistry between Jack and Renee is also pretty interesting; I don't see them hooking up anytime soon given the intensity of their working relationship, though if the idea is a situation along the lines of "I'd love you if I didn't hate you," I'd say they're doing a good job. In short; another admirable 24 season...though it still sucks that they killed off Michelle...and Curtis...and practically all the Palmer clan (!)...and by the way: where is Tony?

Lost: They Are Back...Yes, Already.

In another daring move by this daring series; at least half of the Oceanic Six find their way back to the island: Jack, Kate, and Hurley. We jump ahead int he story somewhat to achieve this ---obviously--- with many questions unanswered to how Ben got the reluctant members of the Oceanic Six to return. We see Ben covered in blood and bruises (is the blood his, or dare we think it, Penny's?), as he tells Jack they have to leave right away. We see Kate without Aaron, with her only quid pro quo that Jack never ask her about Aaron ever again (is he with grandma number one (Kate's estranged mom), grandma number 2 (Claire's mom), or...?). We also see two new faces on the plane who seemingly want to get to the island. Why...?

...That's about it for the first "weekly" editorial. Until next week!
