My latest Two Bits for the week ending:

Friday, April 17th, 2009

-------------------------------------------------------------------

After a long delay posting any "two bits" of my own, here's some of the things on my mind lately, as well as the current status of the site upgrade.

First things first: I'd really like to upgrade the site to offer all of the perks that the new state of the art hosting service offers. This takes time and expense, however, and as I'm sure everyone is aware in this economy: there's little of either going around these days. There's also the fact that this is no longer my "job" per se as much as my hobby, since I don't get any profit in updating this site, or at least I haven't for quite some time. I want this site to keep on going though it will take time with minimal manpower, time, and expenses. So keep patient and the upgrades to the site will be coming.

All that out of the way: here's some of what was on my mind this week in the way of entertainment (aka the subject matter of this site):

Lost: I'm still wondering if next week is a "new" episode or just a collection of old clips. I'm guessing the show is going into seriously "you'll be lost if you haven't been watching" territory, hence the need for a retrospective, though it still stinks that diehard fans have to wait two weeks for a "real" episode again. Mind you, this is not a spoiler since I have absolutely no idea if this is true or not, though rumors are circulating that one of the three new episodes will show flashbacks of none other than the mysterious never-aging Richard Alpert. Again; not a spoiler, nor am I sure if this rumor is true, though how cool would it be to have this mystery solved long before the final season?

The Wolverine Scandal: I don't want to fuel any fires here though I'm sure you heard all about the work print of the upcoming Wolverine movie that was uploaded for everyone to see online. Now before all you kiddies start creating little medals to place on the chests of the thieves who stole this work print, keep a few reality checks in mind. For one: the only way this will become a new movie series is if it makes money, and thanks to the knucklehead who stole the work print, that's impossible now. Second: this is a financial crisis, so to have someone steal the work print of a multi million dollar movie in the current economy is hardly heroic or Robin-Hood-worthy. If anything it will lead to major profit losses and therefore, a lot of job cuts. So thanks for that Mister Work Print Pirate. Okay; that's enough public service messages for one editorial. I just had to get all that off my chest.

The "Celebrity" Apprentice: I was apprehensive about this season as it was, with so called celebrities including Tom Green and Joan Rivers' daughter, Melissa. Now things seem even worse and let me tell you why. Donald Trump seems to be firing people for stupid reasons while keeping two people against all odds: namely, mama Joan Rivers, and daughter Melissa. While they get free passes for ruining challenges, fouling up challenges, and all out being belligerent to their teams, other people are fired for reasons as arbitrary as "You volunteered to stick up for Melissa you're fired." Huh?!?

What upsets me is that this all shows signs of leading up to a contrived finale where Melissa and Joan feign animosity of some sort, Donald feigns lack of respect for Melissa (though if that was true why all the "free passes" for her bratty and arrogant shenanigans?), and then to make things even less believable, Melissa wins the competition, because as we all know, Joan insists that her daughter is capable of being her mom. Except if that were true she'd at least be funny. She'd also be a lot more humble. Joan never acted like she was smart and brilliant and flawless; only funny, and she was right. Melissa seems to want to be smart and brilliant and flawless and bitchy. That's hard to be when you're just one of the above. Think about it.

As Always: I'm Techtite, and these are My Two Bits...
