My latest Two Bits (December 2009): Christmas Past, Present, and Future...------------------------------------------------------------------- Happy holidays! There's a lot of articles and fun to be had on this site, which in the spirit of one of my favorite holiday stories, "A Christmas Carol," is a nice mixture of offerings from Christmases of the Past, present, and...future? let's cover this in reverse with this latest editorial... Starting with what to expect in the near future: I plan on having my latest YouTube video uploaded and online, as early as the time you read this. I wanted to have this video be a best-of collection, a la my popular list from last year, of The Best Holiday Episodes Ever. However many of these great episodes aren't easy to find. Interpret this as you will: it was far easier to find footage for my other holiday list for this year, of the Top Ten Worst Holiday Entertainment Ever. I was even able to use actual footage from the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special...and that only aired once. Yikes! As for holiday "present": the latest update includes many text reviews ranging from the latest CGI version of A Christmas Carol, the comedy Old Dogs, and for video games, Tekken 6. To be honest I was a bit disappointed with Tekken 6, though to be equally honest I'm too busy having fun playing Uncharted 2 to really care. Too bad the long wait for Tekken 6 led to a game that was, at best...passable. Read the full review here. Now for Christmas "past." Back around 2003 I found this amusing origami-filled story that had been originally published by a now out of print magazine in their "holiday edition." It was then passed from person to person via various Xeroxed copies and I decided to retype the story in web site form. While it has nothing to do with Santa or Christmas trees, it is an amusing religious-minded story that I felt was an intriguing way to end this holiday editorial... "An (Origami) Story"Okay, so it's the holidays and you want a holiday feature article. Here's a good one; passed from person to person via a Xeroxed article from way back in the 1980's. It may seem a bit too "high school" for some readers, though this makes sense, since I first learned of this story in high school myself...
Before you tell this story, take a sheet of paper (any size will do) and give it the four folds shown below.
Use this paper to tell the following story:
...Hope you enjoyed the story! Happy Holidays!
