My 2 Bits! (The editorial with One-Quarter Byte!)
Well, what you view before you is one little dream of ours that either failed, or just didn't get the sort of attention we wanted: a PSP-friendly section of Techtite.com. The idea seemed cool at first, though there were understandable hurdles. Conversion of any review to PSP format was difficult. So was reducing text and graphics to a size suitable to a PSP screen. View these PSP pages on a regular computer ---or on the PS3, for that matter--- and it's clear the dream just didn't work. This is just one example of a cute portable system that just didn't meet expectations. I, for one, loved the portable media capabilities of the PSP. On one vacation I converted video of our prior trip to PSP, which I could watch with a family member while in flight. It was pretty cool, though with all humility aside: it takes a pretty experienced video/music editor to know how to convert files to PSP format. Then there's the limited size of the memory card, even if you have that cool Four Gig card. The good news: while the PSP didn't become the all-in-one portable media powerhouse that Sony had hoped, It has become a very nice "Playstation Portable" in its own right. Classic PSX games are easily bought online on the PS3, only to be easily copied to your personal PSP, and played on the go. Castlevania, in particular, is a work of art, though seeing Crash Bandicoot fully portable is pretty cool, too. We would've loved to see a portable Lara Croft in time for her anniversary, though that will have to wait. Maybe these pages similarly succeeded, and maybe they didn't. We'll never know. All we know is that it would've been pretty hard for any PSP viewer to send us a letter telling us they even saw the pages at all. If you like(d) the idea of A PSP Page that was sized for PSP viewing, let us know, in the letters page of our full-sized, "regular" web site. For now, enjoy these pages as another case of a PSP world that might-have-been... I'm Techtite, and these are My Two Bits! <<<back to Techtite's PSP Page (Home) |
