Techtite's DVD Reviews! |
"One of the best action adventure films ever made. Aside from Han Solo, this is what made Harrison Ford a star. " --from the review
------------- Sidebar :: ------------- The missing cobra Reflection. Now, one added comment about the DVD; there is a little banter online about the way the film has been digitally enhanced, including, though not limited to, the digital correcting of some minor "bloopers." In one memorable scene, Indy is face-to-face with a cobra. The trouble is, the cobra's reflection was visible, however slightly, at one part of the screen. This has been digitally removed in the DVD. However, so what? Given how many people whined like babies about this blooper for over two decades, it's a little late now to say that you "regret" it being removed!

Raiders of the Lost Ark
A Techtite ReviewAs Always, a review of The Film and The DVD (extras)! The Film: Finally it's on DVD! Perhaps even more than the original Star Wars trilogy (if just because those films are on cable all the time), many fans have waited long and hard for Raiders of the Lost Ark to be out on DVD. For those who wouldn't want to buy all three films, there is some complaints that the films are sold as a set, not individually. Whatever; Raiders is finally out on DVD. Quit your whining! Anyone not living in a cave dwelling probably knows the tale already, of an archeologist circa WW2, Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford), who is into the adventure and the hunt for lost treasure as much as finding the artifacts themselves. I think what makes any film a classic is how listing all of the cool moments, in truth, tells almost the entire story of the film! Seriously; if you found a part of this film boring, I'd love to hear it, because I think I missed that "boring" part completely. The film is just so well edited, and so well told, acted, and constructed, one can't help but love every moment of it. Simply put: this film is a classic in action-movie lore. Favorite scenes...? That would have to be the "top 5" favorites, for me. Top on the list is the incredible final scene, showcasing the ominous power nobody expected from this mere "relic" they sought for. Second favorite scene would be the way Indy deals with the double-swordsman in the marketplace; a humorous "Why didn't anyone think of this before?" moment that is a classic among action movies. Tied for third place would be: the now-infamous giant rolling boulder chase scene, the whole action scene involving Indy and a Nazi-driven truck, and the humorous way Indy and his love interest in this movie, Marian (Karen Allen), "first" meet at the start of the film. This is merely five classic scenes of many. In short, this film was a major reason for DVD's to have been invented in the first place. Why did it take so long to come out, then? Who knows. The important thing is it's finally out now. This is one great movie.
The DVD:
Currently, this film is sold on DVD only as a set; an important point to
make, when the makers of this set put all extras on disc "four,"
and left the film discs dry as a bone...aside from the films of course.
Not even a commentary track is present. As Luke Skywalker would say:
"Noooooooo!" So, jump to the review of the full set to see what
extras are on disc four, or just order the set already! It's not like you
weren't going to.
