Clandestiny

(Trilobyte, 1996)

One of only a few games to be released by Trilobyte after their mega hit, The 7th Guest (and it's sequel, The 11th Hour), this game's first mistake was using cartoon characters, not live actors. While said animation was superior to most attempts at "interactive cartoons" at the time (including the flawed King's Quest 7 in '94, and Space Quest 6 in '95), it was still odd to see cartoon characters in the foreground, and a 3D rendered house in the background. While puzzles were typical of Trilobyte --and therefore, often, quite challenging-- the ending was equally typical of the game company, and is just plain bad (so bad, it's on Techtite's list of Worst Game Finales of All Time!). It was a slightly-flawed game, that could've been far better.

Rating : Near Miss.
