The Colonel's Bequest

(Sierra, 1989)

As soon as Roberta Williams started to get tired of making only King's Quest games, she made two different game genre choices. One was Phantasmagoria : a 4 million dollar money pit that unquestionably started the downward spiral of the whole company. The second game series choice, The "Laura Bow Mysteries," was far more acceptable. While the Colonel's "Bequested" house is not as vast as it should be, and the puzzles were pretty easy, the game was still acceptable fun. However, if blowing the dust off mystery game classics, nothing beats Infocom's Deadline.

Rating : Small Crater.
