Companions of Xanth
(Legend Entertainment, 1993)
Legend was one of the last text adventure companies to finally
cave in, and make an adventure game that was mouse-controlled
only. However, by the time they made this decision to make an
"icon interface" graphic adventure, they were years
behind the competition. On the same year that LucasArts released
Sam & Max Hit the Road,
Legend released this so-so title, that was easily finished in
a night. This game's true value --and the only reason for it
squeaking into the marginally-thumbs-up category-- was that it
was based on the classic novel series. In that respect, the spirit
of the game was right on target, leading to a marginal
thumbs up...
