Darkseed 2

(Cyberdreams, 1996)

One of the worst sequels ever made, the worst adventures ever made, and the worst adventure endings of all time...all in one game! YIKES! While Darkseed was tolerable, its sequel certainly was not. Sure, it's premise was as unique as the first, involving a macabre "mirror world" of reality, as inspired by the hand-drawn art of HR Giger (whose works inspired Alien, among others). It also expands on the first game's premise, that everything bad here is good there (and vice versa), leading inevitably to you meeting your own evil doppelganger. However, the final result of this chance meeting is beyond hideous; not only are you left stabbed and bleeding on the ground, the ending is wide open, teasing you with the possibility of a "Darkseed 3" that never was. I attribute mega goofs like these to the reason why the game company Cyberdreams is no longer in business! How bad is bad? This game requires memories of Harvester and Man Enough, to not be the absolutely worst game of all time. That's very BAD!

Rating : Burnout.
