Manhunter: San Francisco

(Sierra On-Line, 1989)

A sequel that was flawed on more than a few levels. For one, the graphics were even worse; most Apple //e games, half a decade earlier, had better graphics. Second, the puzzles weren't as unique as the original Manhunter game. Worst of all, the ending is wide open, and leaves you clinging for your life on a spaceship, as it hurls towards outer space! The only saving grace of this lunatic finale was the assumption (insert "assume" joke here) that the cliffhanger would be resolved in a sequel, PDQ. It never was. Eeesh.

Rating : Near Miss.
