Mean Streets

(Access, 1989)

Yet another unforgettable game, placed into Techtite's list of Top 50 Multimedia Classics. This spawned a whole series of adventure games starring detective Tex Murphy, including the almost-as-flawless Under a Killing Moon. Other Tex Murphy sequels included Martian Memorandum, The Pandora Directive, and Overseer. This first game, however, was the real charm. There was even an in-game flight sim, that allowed you to fly your futuristic air car anywhere in 21st Century San Francisco (auto pilot could also be engaged, to get back to the adventure more quickly). The mystery was amusing, and the game itself was the first ever attempt to incorporate 256 colors into an adventure game (sorry, Sierra). I loved this game!

Rating : Deep Impact.
