Mission Critical

(Legend Entertainment, 1995)

One of the biggest (multi-CD) adventure games delivered by Legend, was far from their best. However, even the not-so-great adventures from Legend were often better than the competition. This "interactive movie" put you in the role of a passenger on an important star ship, who barely escapes a freak accident. You then must explore a strange new world and discover a means to correct what went wrong...and hopefully get home as well! On the one hand, the game is easily completed in a weekend or so --there isn't much to explore or do here. On the other hand, there was excellent acting talent in the live-action cutscenes, including Michael Dorn from Star Trek TNG, and Patricia Charbonneau. That ups the game's value a notch.

Rating : Large Crater.
