Quest for Glory IV: Shadows of Darkness

(Sierra On-Line, 1993)

The sequel to the abysmal Quest For Glory III : Wages of War was awaited only by the most avid of remaining fans, or the ones who actually believed Lorey and Corey Cole would deliver a solution to the open ending this time. They didn't; in truth, you're left with yet another open ending, and an even lesser love for the series as a whole. What a sad purported sequel to Hero's Quest and Quest for Glory 2! The problem is, by now, it didn't seem like the Coles as game designers were even trying; most of the game seems like it was made while on auto-pilot, without a care in the world. Sad...although, at least, you do get to defeat the villain, finally.

Rating : Near Miss.
