Star Wars Mysteries of the Sith

[Mission Disc for Dark Forces 2]

(LucasArts, 1998)

A "mission disk" is often mere extra maps for the original game. Very rarely does such a disc feel like it's a new game in itself. This was definitely one of those times! Mysteries of the Sith continues the Kyle Katarn story, as he helps train Mara Jade; the popular heroine from Star Wars novels. At first, Kyle must help thwart an attack on a rebel base. Later, you must help Mara Jade as she finds out where Kyle has disappeared, as well as discover the mystery of the sith itself! Cutscenes were well done, as were the various new area explored ; two of the best were a lair of one of the Hutts (not Jabba), and a ship filled with space pirates. To many fans, the ingenuity of storyline, plus enhancements to the original game engine, made this almost feel like Dark Forces 3...which is a good thing, since it would be a long time before that sequel was finally announced! If you own Dark Forces 2, you must buy this mission disc!
