Shivers
(Sierra On-Line, 1996)
This was Sierra On-Line's attempt to attract one or more of
the "7th Guest" crowd
of puzzle game fans. However, before doing so, it would have
been wise to make sure that this three-year-old fad in games
wasn't already losing its steam. I'll admit, though, that the
added challenge of preventing the attack of various evil spirits,
within the game's puzzles, was a unique concept. A health meter
kept track of how many accidental run ins with these ghosts you
came across (ie, how many times you failed a puzzle). Too many
mistakes, and you're history! The ending was pretty much cut-and-pasted
on, though the game until then was amusing and, for the most
part, fun.
