Sin : Wages of Sin

[Mission Pack]

(Activision/Ritual Entertainment, 1999)

This is the mission pack that soon followed the Quake 2-engine- savvy Sin released the prior year. The animation was great, including the cutscenes, which were all done within the 3D game engine itself (in the introduction, a mob boss' cigar uses light and smoke effects that are, small as they are, very impressive in the word of 3D acceleration FX). The story that unfolds is nice enough, though not half as impressive as the original game's. It feels a lot like a Star Wars film, without Darth Vader. Alexis Sinclaire is still "missing," though whether you really defeated her is still left up in the air. This mystery was allegedly to reveal itself upon "Mission Pack #2," or perhaps even "Sin 2." Unfortunately, neither one was ever made.

Rating : Small Crater.
