TimeQuest

(Legend Entertainment, 1991)

Note: this is not the same game as Hype : The Time Quest, which involved toy Playmobil characters.

One of the best text adventures by the Legend software company, this even made it onto Techtite's list of Top 50 Multimedia Classics. The object is to save major moments in time from being destroyed by a madman, before the future itself is destroyed. From the days of Napoleon to WW2 to even an ancient temple, you must put right what the prior time traveler has made wrong. One cute touch was the way history was able to be "bent" a little, in order to save the future. The game's sole flaw was, arguably, its view of the past is a bit too biased. Apparently, an English game designer knew a lot about Great Britain's role in history, and that's it. Didn't any other country play a pivotal role in history? Of course! However, it still was an excellent time-travel game; one of the best.

Rating : Deep Impact.
