Ultima VII, Part II: The Serpent Isle

(Origin, 1993)

This amusing departure from the norm in "sequels," put you in a sequel to...the same game? Game #7...Part 2??? Hmmm...whatever. Unlike The Black Gate, the storyline was far more linear, and most puzzles must be done too "in sequence" to allow for any major fun. However, the game engine is the same, and that means many different lands to go to, and many things that can be done when you get there. As in The Black Gate, almost anything small can be taken, and used somehow. Secrets are also intriguing, including a few Easter Egg surprises : a secret door below a wooden staircase leads to...A Dallas Cowboys football field? Leave it to Origin.

Rating : Large Crater.
