Uninvited

(Icom Simulations/Mindscape, 1986, Mac)
 Much like Shadowgate
(its successor, not predecessor), this game's
interface allowed you to pick up anything that wasn't bolted
down, and put it in inventory. The puzzle was in deciding exactly
which items were truly needed, to help find your lost brother
in a creepy haunted mansion. From Southern Belle Ghosts to zombies, and
even a truly oddball greenhouse, this was one of the best haunted
house games I ever played...and there have been many. For this reason and more, it's a firm
member of Techtite's choices for Top
50 Multimedia Classics.
