Blood

(Monolith/GT Interactive, 1997)

3D Realms had many companies who wanted to license the same game engine as Duke Nukem 3D. Among them was a company called Monolith, who wanted to make a game called Blood. However, they apparently didn't make many games before this one, leading to numerous game design bugs. Lackluster beta testing included "minimal game requirements" on the box cover which were far lower than the debatable truth. FMV Cutscenes needed around twice the recommended RAM, to play at all (this game flaw was later patched...eventually). As for the game itself, upon first release, one game map accidentally excluded a required key; without it, the level was unable to be completed, and you couldn't finish the game! Although its premise of fighting classic thriller monsters like Zombies and Gargoyles was intriguing, it could've been made a whole lot better.
