Conquests of the Longbow: The Legend of Robin Hood

(Sierra, 1991)

Bravo to author Christy Marx, for making such an admirable sequel to her game "series," regardless of Sierra's flawed game engine at the time. Don't get me wrong; King's Quest 6 was acceptable, as was Space Quest 5. However, all the sequels before and after those games were quite bad (this included KQ5, KQ7, SQ4, and SQ6!). Somewhere in between, there was Conquests of the Logbow, a game that's even on Techtite's list of Top 50 Multimedia Classics. What can I say?...I'm a big Robin Hood story fan, and this game's hand drawn art, excellent music, story arcs, and multiple possible endings, make this the best Robin Hood game I ever played. Okay, that's not admitting the fact that this is one of the few Robin Hood type games ever made. This still doesn't keep me from admitting that this is also one of the finest adventure games I played in the early 1990's, at a time when adventure games were going downhill. This was the exception.
