Frogger (Remake)
(Hasbro Interactive, 1997)
I'm not a big fan of the 3D "remakes" of classic
arcade games; I'd much rather have the real thing, or a remake
that adds something worthwhile to the original concept! This
game was closer to the latter. 3D acceleration was only the start
of the upgrade; after trying to get across the classic highway
and river of the original game, you then had to survive through
ponds, deserts, heavy machinery, and other dangerous obstacles!
Get real good and you can search for hidden "golden baby
frogs," which lead to an amusing finale video when they're
all saved. While not as inspired as brand-new game concepts,
it's definitely worth a look for Frogger fans...
