The Legend of Kyrandia

(Westwood Studios, 1992)

Many game companies wanted a success like Sierra's King's Quest franchise; few came as close as this. With absolutely fantastic music and impressive graphics to go with the tunes, this game --and its eventual trilogy-- gave the King's Quest series a run for its money. Its humor might have been a little more in league with Space Quest, though it was still fun. It's use of a mouse-only interface was also far better handled than most other adventures at the time, including King's Quest 5. Between the forest music and the eventual sequel, The Hand of Fate, I'd have to give this game a solid thumbs-up.

Rating : Large Crater.
