Toonstruck

(Virgin/Burst, 1997)

This was heralded as the game that would blend childish fun with mature humor. It would combine both live action and hand drawn animation, similar to movies like Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Adding to the fun was the main character, played by none other than Christopher Lloyd. Classic voice acting for modern cartoons, including many of the voice talent from The Simpsons, added to the fun. One of the bigger problems with the game, however, was the fact that the final product was far shorter than intended; most intended scenes were left for a possible "sequel" that never was. In addition, some jokes, like the guy who shoots bowling balls from his backside in a tutu, are too oddball to be funny. Another character, "snot," is just plain disgusting. Regardless, the rest of the game was short, yet fun.

Rating : Large Crater.
