Amazon

(Filmtrack/Telarium, 1982, Apple//e)
One of my favorite of the first graphic/text adventure
hybrids (with a picture of each location on the top 2/3rds of the screen,
with the text description below), this was
made by Michael Crichton, when he had his own software company.
Yes, the Michael Crichton, whose movie fare includes Jurassic
Park and Westworld, and whose TV creations
include E.R. You can imagine how fun his software
story was, as a sort of "Raiders of the Lost Ark,"
set deep in the Amazon. Amusing little additions included Paco,
the talking parrot sidekick, who often helped you out of trouble
faster than Lassie ever could. So fun was this game --for me,
anyway-- it's on Techtite's list of Top
50 Multimedia Classics!
