Jewels of the Oracle

(Discis, 1995)

This game was an amusing hybrid of the search-and-discover aspects of a Myst "clone," and the mind-bending puzzles of The 7th Guest. The storyline involved the discovery of ancient ruins belonging to The Oracle. Each room of the temple was filled with a device you needed to discover how to use (a la Myst) and a puzzle to solve, using that device (a la 7th Guest). Each puzzle reveals a Jewel, which, if enough are found, will lead to the well animated (if not totally satisfying) finale. Puzzles were often inspired, and quite better than most of the ones found in 7th Guest, or even its sequel, 11th Hour. It was also dual-compatible with PCs and Macs. A nice game for puzzle fans...

Rating : Large Crater.
